CHER AMI BIRD HOME
OVERVIEW
Throughout history, especially in war, the carrier pigeon has played a crucial role. However, they aren’t always given credit where it is due. This goes the same for the bike messenger. Cher Ami was a famous messenger pigeon during World War I, to commemorate and to re-use old bike parts, this home was created. Now messengers of both kinds are represented in this piece.

‘Cher Ami’ means ‘Dear Friend’ in French, and the desired look reaches back to the comforting aesthetic of a hospitable time in Europe in the earlier part of last century. The wear and patina of the heavily traveled is put on full display. The house comes in a box, comes in a burlap mail sack, and is then assembled by the owner with love and care. All pieces for the home were created from thrown away bicycle parts from various local shops.
